Apply Watercolor Kit by Elena Olinevich

Elena Olinevich made me fall in love with her work when she displayed an artist layout showcasing her Mother in earlier ears with a DT assignment for Faber-Castell. Elena’s talent is nothing short of outstanding but she has a way of using several mediums from Faber-Castell to help aid the less talented at creating a masterpiece of their own. She does that in her latest kit for The Scrapbook Diaries, Apple.  Apple is a great example of how anyone without drawing skills can use watercolor pencils, Gelatos and more to create a magnificent mixed media layout.

As always, kits come complete with materials to make the featured layout and bonus.  We are offering this kit in complete and basic – only difference is the complete version includes the text stencil from The Crafters Workshop and a text stamp from Finnabair for Prima.

Just to prove how someone without drawing skills can do this – here’s my recreation…

Apple Remake

Not too shabby, right?  And following with out usual order of business, I needed to create a bonus layout to compliment the featured layout with products and technique.  At a loss for ideas I said to my sister, what do I do that i red/pink and I can draw?  She immediately thought of the heart…

Bonus Heart Page

Had so much fun doing both of these layouts. Thanks Elena!  It was great to watch the video and learn such awesome techniques as to how to layer color and elements.  Hope you like this one as much as I do.

Thanks for looking. Another new kit from Adrienne next week!

Forever by Misty Russell

I am very exctited to announce a new designer her at The Scrapbook Diaries, Misty Russell.  Misty’s industrial type look is so captivating.  She captured our heart with an online tutorial using ScrapFX’s Pipe Work Stencil.  For Misty’s first mixed media page kit for The Scrapbook Diaries, she uses similar technique to create this vintage masterpiece.

Forever by Misty Russell:

mixed_media_layout_tutorial

To me it looks so much like an old Hollywood/Vogue type of piece and I don’t even think it is because of the photo she uses.

When you purchase this kit, you’ll get access to the exclusive online tutorial as well as all materials to complete this project and a bonus page (excludes basic supplies listed in description. This is a great kit for how to create an amazing background with some molding paste and various mediums.  LOVE this stencil from ScrapFX and of course the adorable pipes from Ingvild Bolme for Prima!

To keep the price of the kit in check, we needed a bonus page that could compare without adding much cost.  With a few travel themed die-cuts and a few flowers, here’s the Bonus sample…

Hope you like!

We also updated the store to include some wonderful Faber-Castell products.  I want all of the watercolor pencils all after playing around a bit thanks to Kasia in her 38. Layout kit.  You are sure to find more Faber-Castell products making their way in to our kits.  In fact, I know Elena‘s next layout for us uses 3 Gelatos and 2 watercolor pencils. That one should be coming next week. In fact – we have a lot of exciting new kits lined up so be sure to check in often.

Thanks,

Happy Shabby Chic by Lisa Griffith

Lisa Griffith is an unfound treasure. Well, not exactly unfounded but sure to be one of those designers you will be seeing lots more from her in the future.  She has a unique way of adding some gesso to a stencil to create a beautiful shabby chic effect.

For this kit, Lisa created two layouts.  Some simple stencil work with gesso and a trick for making chipboard go a little further. We’re offering the kit in a complete form (with stencil) and basic, without the stencil.

33. (Hello) Mixed Media Kit from Kasia Krzymińska

Kasia Krzymińska (aka. Czekoczyna) is by far one of the most talented mixed media artists I know. It’s in her blood, fingers and bones. She has it all. Whenever she sends me her sample layouts, I just swoon. I mean full on “oh” and “ah” at all the details. I always love her work. Of course I don’t wait for her to send me photos, I stalk her blog twice a day to see her latest innovations.

Her latest kit, #33. (Hello) was featured on the 7Dots Studio Blog this month.  They did a piece on bubbles. And don’t you know it, Kasia’s example was amazing! Her use of Glossy Accents from Ranger nailed the concept.  As ALWAYS, her use of colors is remarkable. This kit is loaded with yummy shades of blues, a little green and some yellow to warm it all up. It has 4 (yes 4) mini Twinkling H2O Watercolor Pods along with 4 Mini Misters filled with Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.  The colors blend seamlessly to create this amazing look….

I know, stunning, right?  Love it!  I had so much fun getting to play and recreate Kasia’s work by following along on the online tutorial. When you purchase this kit, you get the password to access the online video to watch over and over.  And my favorite part, this is the first time Kasia talks to us.  I have always known her to be sweet and inspiring but seeing her in person with words makes this kit my favorite yet. She may be from Poland but don’t be fooled – her English is great.  There is no misinterpreting her intentions or thoughts.

As with just about all of our kits, we wanted to offer you another layout sample using the product base Kasia uses (with a few extra pieces). So here is the bonus sample layout…

Smile Bonus Layout

Maybe it’s just me but after watching the video, you just want to put the learned steps in to use. I had so much fun on this one. Hope you like it as much as I do.

And as promised, we offer the kit in a Complete form and Basic.  For this kit the difference is in the stamps used (no stencil on this one).  The complete kit comes with two stamp sets from BoBunny; the basic kit without the stamps. Here’s a pic of the basic kit…

Beautiful by Adrienne Ford

It is no wonder why you might keep seeing Adrienne Ford‘s name pop up on newly announced Design Teams announcements… she’s beyond talented!  And we at The Scrapbook Diaries couldn’t be happier that she is continuing to make some exclusive kits for us.  Her artistic nature and free spirit encourage you to play with the products at hand to come up with your own unique masterpiece.

Her latest kit, Beautiful, uses papers from the Attic Door Collection by Lemon Owl.  These papers are thinner than many others out there but they manage to take on the water, inks and paints packed in to this kit. Adrienne uses Artist Pigment Powders from Luminarte in a new way to add a great deal of depth. The techniques learned in this kit can be applied to other layouts so you always have a unique background to suit your needs.  Kit also comes with video tutorial and basic written direction.

Here is the latest…

Beautiful by Adrienne Ford

As perviously posted, we are now offering kits in both Complete and Basic versions.  For this kit the difference is the 12×12 Stencil and 2×2 clear stamp.  The complete kit can be purchased for $48.  This includes all materials, mediums, stamp and stencil.  All you need to do is provide basic supplies (adhesive, scissors, etc.) as well as some ink and super heavy gesso or modeling paste. Don’t have Super Heavy Gesso? No problem, you can easily tack on a mini .5oz trial size to your order.  If you already have the stencil or have a similar one and don’t need this 12×12 Grunge Net Stencil, no problem – just order the Basic Kit for $40.  Basically we’re giving you the stamp for free in the complete kit since the stencil is $8.

Live With Prima Kit – Une Histoire by Frank Garcia

I am so excited to share that we are carrying kits for the upcoming Live with Prima show tomorrow from Frank Garcia. Frank is a man of many hats… He’s my sales rep at Prima, Prima Educator, craft teacher and Editor-in-Chief of Paperhaus Magazine (if you haven’t checked out this online mag yet, you NEED to).  I, among many others, also call him a friend.  His talents are also great.

Frank’s new Live with Prima layout is ready to rock… Une Histiore. I for one can’t wait to see how Frank transforms the ever so wonderful Engraver papers in to this metallic goldmine.

Here’s the sample layout…

Kasia (Czekoczyna) is Back with Another Kit

Who doesn’t love Kasia Krzymińska (aka. Czekoczyna)?  Her sweet demeanor and amazing talent are just two tiny components that make up part of this fabulous woman.

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is the choice of colors she uses on her projects.  Her latest kit, 30. (Summer), mixes 5 colors of Silks Acrylic Gazes from Splash of Color along with 2 Twinkling H2O’s mixed with 2 Coleration sprays from Art Anthology.  And all of these different mediums brings together lavender, gold, reds and various shades fuchsia. And when you see the 2 shades of red, you too will most likely think, really? Mix this with this…. but yes – I think the tomato red is my favorite part. Who knew this would all work together? Kasia – that’s who.

Here it is…

30. Mixed Media Kit (Summer)

As with just about all of our designer kits, we have a bonus layout included as well to use up some spare parts along with a few added other pieces….

You get all the materials and products to make both of these layouts.  When you order this kit, a password will be sent in your confirmation email that will allow you access to an online video tutorial from Kasia.
