Grow by Di Garling

Grown by Di Garling (MMK130)

Di Garling is back with another stunning mixed media layout for us! Her second kit, Grow, is nothing less than spectacular! She mixes teal and brown for quite the dramatic look. Perfect for highlighting any tropical photos or a sweet little angel like she did.

Di certainly knows how to pack a punch with color. She mixes the fabulous 7Dots Studio paper from Thoughts Keep er Collection with Jack in the Pulpit Teal from Lindy’s Stamp Gang to get a glowing shade of teal that makes you feel like you are floating on water. Does it do that to you or is it just me?

The kit comes with just about all materials needed to make the layout (stamp, stencil and texture paste separate) – see product description for complete details. When you purchase this kit, you get access to her online tutorial.  It’ll be just like taking a class down under from Di direct except you won’t get those views but you do get the comforts of your own home (or wherever you are crafting).

I had so much fun with Di’s video and kit that I was thoroughly inspired for the bonus page. I happen to have a piece of paper lying around that was more than perfect to match and pick of the orange she popped in. Not to toot my own horn or anything but I am in LOVE with this layout and so excited to find some great photos to hang this one up on the wall! Hope you like it too…

They do make a great pair of layouts don’t they? 🙂

Still to come – more Dusty Attic Chipboards and a whole bunch of new 2Crafty pieces. I had hoped to add the 2Crafty in at the same time as Di’s kit since she is one of their designers. If you like her works like I know you do – you are sure to be seeing more and more 2Crafty pieces in our store front so you can load up on the pieces she uses in her work. But like everything else, I fell short on time. I will be adding them over the coming days so feel free to check back in often.

New kits.. end of this week – Jaya Raghuvanshi. End of the month – the double kit from Gabrielle and Gerry!!!!! It’ll be a 4-page kit – one from each of them plus a bonus page for each from me. 2 videos, 4 layouts… you are going to like. The kit will feature a set of water color pencils from Prima. I know a lot of people have been inquiring about them and many a little gun-shy to try them out of fear. Well Gabi and Gerry are SURE to make you comfortable and excited over them. You’ll leaner just how much they can turn plain white watercolor paper in to masterpieces.

Thats it for me for now. Hubby is calling and wondering when we can get this Memorial Day barbecue started! Wishing you all a happy Memorial Day (here in the States) and to everyone else – Happy Sunday (Monday Australia)!

Happiness Is by Gabrielle Pollacco Plus

Happiness Is by Gabrielle Pollacco (MMK126)

Gabrielle Pollacco is back with a delicate layout that will stand the test of time. She mixes a grey and yellow color palette that is just… beautiful! I always love Gabrielle’s layouts and works of art but this one… it’s just perfect in every way (they all are I know).

As also usual, Gabrielle had a great photo for this layout but even if you don’t have a photo like this, it’s one of those layouts that is perfect for anything – everything!

The kit is just about complete in it’s basic form but we offered a complete version – only edition is the stamp set, Gabi’s Crackle Textures. A great set perfect for so many things.

I love how my page turned out and I love my bonus page too. I must confess (if I haven’t already done so before)… I am a way better scrapper than ever before and it is only because of all the talented designers that have contributed to our site over the last two years.  One thing that makes their layouts stand out among the average Joe’s is the attention to detail. Gabi is certainly a master at this – do just one of her layouts and follow the steps she takes on her videos and you will see.  Because of her and a bunch of others, I have totally stepped up my game and come up with some great bonus layouts (modest huh? :)). Here it is…

Happiness Is Bonus Sample (MMK126)

When you purchase this kit you will get the materials needed to complete it, access to online tutorial for Gabi’s featured layout, Happiness Is, as well as written step-by-step directions with color photos.

In addition, we have posted another kit from Gabrielle. Did you love Gabrielle’s post, Mischief? Mischief is a layout Gabrielle did for a Dusty Attic kit.  Both Gabrielle and Jennifer Hedger from Dusty Attic were kind enough to allow us to create a handful of these layouts as a special kit. I just love how the Dusty Attic paints and routing powder created such a genuine look of rusting metal from chipboard! See for yourself…

Instead of having to purchase the 10 packs of DA chipboard used on this layout, Jennifer was kind enough to cut us the pieces needed for this layout. So we turned this in to a special 1 page Dusty Attic layout kit.  Comes complete with full size paints (Raisn, Ginger Nut, Chocolate and Sun Burnt Orange) as well as a full sized continaer of Rusting Powder, Maja Design Papers (Jeans, Flannel Shirt and Vintage Autumn Basics XVI) as well as a few more pieces (you can see complete product list here).

Please note picture above reflects full packs of chipboards (only includes the pieces needed for layout).

This kit is in very LIMITED quantities. We will try to restock a few more in the near term but for now, grab it while you can.

Clearly enough for one day but I will be posting about 40 new 2Crafty products in the store this weekend.

Next week, the one and only Di Garling!!!! Yes i know – finally! Some of you have been counting down (I’m on that list). Di’s style and sense of color really pack a punch. Mixing her use of various mediums in with fabulous 2Crafty chipboards, you are sure to love this one! Look for it Monday/Tuesday.

Thanks for stopping in.

Together is Wonderful by Gabrielle Pollacco Plus New Stamp Set

Together Is Wonderful (MMK121)

Gabrielle Pollacco brings us another one of her “masculine” type layouts (not that her romantic pic with hubby is anything masculine of course)…. Together is Wonderful is just so perfect for so many occasions with friends, family and loved ones. maybe we should call it a rustic layout since she did such a great job creating the look and feel of weathered rust. As always Gabi’s video tutorial (access available when you purchase the kit) demonstrates how easy it is to create a rusted look with a common household ingredient like cinnamon. Did I let the cat out of the bag on that one?

Nothing other STUNNING or BEAUTIFUL or any other similar adjective can be used when you look at Gabi’s work. Always flawless and inspiring.  The details she incorporates just pop!

We’ve had kits that may top the record charts for the use of flowers (Um, Stacey Young – :)) But this one is sure to set records with the amount of chipboard used in one kit.  And it’s all just so perfect!

Thank you Gabrielle!!!

As usual, I made up a bonus page to go with this layout using left overs and just a few extra pieces. I didn’t have and wasn’t able to find a similar resist type paper to compliment this one but I did find a “normal” piece of paper from Prima’s Timeless Memories collection that goes SO well (at least I think so). I love this collection for background appears as they are so versatile and go with so many other things. I am digressing… here is my bonus sample…

Together Is Wonderful Bonus Sample (MMK121)

Now of course if you are like me, you might not have cinnamon in your house and might be too lazy to get some.  Well, I cheated a bit and combined a few other things… I used a Brown Wink of Stella Marker to get the shimmery type look which worked well and I could have left it alone there but then I reached in to the various paints and colored texture paints I have and never open and found another brown and verdigris type color to add a bit of.  Love the finish look even though I think I could have saved myself a bit of a hassle by just getting some cinnamon. It’s already on the shopping list of next time.

I do love it but in hindsight probably would have balanced it out a bit better by adding the large cog to the left side of page to offset the branch on top but neither here nor there.

OK – think I have said enough about this amazing kit. We have another exciting product to unveil… the WELL anticipated follow up to Gabi’s Texture Stamp.  This one, named, Gabi Crackle Textures Stamp (I can’t use punctuation in product titles or it bunks things up so hence the Gabi and not Gabi’s for the title)…

You Make Me Happy by Maja Nowak

You Make Me happy by Maja Nowak (MMK115)

Maja Nowak (aka Oliwiaen) is back with another beautiful layout for us.  She mixes up some tans from Maja Design papers along with the pop of teal.  Filled with textures and pretty little details, “You make Me Happy When Skies Are Grey“, is now available as a kit. The kit contains just about all the items you need (basic supplies, brown ink and Gabi’s Label stamp are the only things missing). The contains step-by-step photo directions that are the most thorough directions we’ve ever put out. Maja has detailed all steps so it’s easy to follow along.

What did I tell you? Pops with that teal, right?

Using just one extra piece of paper for the base and a few flowers, I was able to create the bonus layout…

You Make Me happy Bonus Sample (MMK115)
You Make Me happy Bonus Sample (MMK115)

The kit includes a small jar of Silks paint and a chalk edger for coloring the chipboard grid and title but otherwise doesn’t have a whole lot of mixed media elements to it. The layers speak for themselves. It was nice to put together a layout without having to wait for mediums to dry or worrying about warping paper. Don’t get me wring, I love those type of layouts too but this time, I just enjoyed the process and was able to do it in a lot less time.

Next kit to come… Nadia Cannizzo!

new products…. have I mentioned before a “palette” of Prima is coming? I might have mentioned it once or twice but the effect has not been lost on me.  A PALETTE! Where am I going to fit it all?  None the less kind of exciting that I get to rummage through all the boxes and ooh and agh over all of it.

Just arrived – Dusty Attic. I updated some out of stock items but have a whole bunch I need to enter in to the store. Hoping to get to it later today or tomorrow.

that’s it for me for now. Have a great day!

Little Angel by Gerry van Gent

Little Angel by Gerry van Gent

Today is a very exciting day for me…. Finally able to share with you such exciting news.  Guess by the name of the title of this post you already know where I am headed with this so I will back track a bit….

A year ago I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the ever talented Gerry van Gent from Holland at CHA thanks to our friend Frank.  Of course I knew how hugely talented Gerry is. All you have to do is take one look at a beautifully layered layout and you can tell immediately when it is hers. She just has a look that always leaves you saying how did she do that or look at what she added there.  Always beautiful in her signature style.  From the moment I met her, I knew Gerry was not only a treasured designers but a person to treasure.  She’s fabulous!

Gerry needed to take some time off from designing but vowed to come back. Well she is coming back with a vengeance and rocking it right where she left off.  I am humbled that she’s agreed to design for us. She has so much to teach us and a wonderful way of going about things. When you purchase her kit and watch her video, you’ll see exactly what I mean.

So without further ado, here’s Gerry’s first kit for The Scrapbook Diaries, Little Angel…

Here are some close-ups…

How beautiful is her daughter?  Love that pic!

Anyway back tot the kit… We are of erring the kit in 2 versions – Basic and Complete.  Basic includes the papers, embellishments, etc. Complete includes the mist, stamp and stencil. You can see the full product description here.  I really can’t say enough how great I found Gerry’s video.  So many tips and tricks for adding detail to your layouts.

As with just about all of our kits, I was able to put together a bonus sample using 2 extra sheets of papers and some flowers with the leftover pieces of scraps.  Gerry left me some amazing pieces of Maja paper.  This time though the color palate changed a bit as I focused on the images in left over paper – the kids.  I am so happy with how it turned out. Counting down for a snow day here so I can get the perfect picture for it as these are two layouts that will surely be going up on the walls of the Meyerowitz household.

My take on the bonus sample…

Winter Wonderland Bonus Sample MMK111
Winter Wonderland Bonus Sample by Janene Meyerowitz (MMK111)

As you will note the yellow wouldn’t have worked for me so I added a bit of watered down Distress Spray in Stormy Sky. Found it matched the Maja blue perfectly.

Hope you like as much as I do.

Thank you Gerry for your friendship and for making such a great kit for us to share.  Classes without borders is a wonderful approach if you ask me. 🙂

Later this week we have another new designer to The Scrapbook Diaires lined up. She’s bringing us another beautiful layout so be sure to check back in at the end of the week

Thanks,

Janene
