Beautiful by Rachelle Sigurdson

Beautiful by Rachelle Siggurdson

To say I am excited to bring you the first kit from the very talented Rachelle Sigurdson is an understatement! I have been a long time fan of Rachelle’s work.  Rachelle is known for layers and layers. It’s really no wonder how she got to be a design team member for both Maja Design and Dusty Attic chipboard. The mix of Rachelle, Dusty Attic and Maja Design… well how can you go wrong?

Her first kit for us, Beautiful if just that! With step-by-step color photos, Rachelle takes us on her journey as she created this layout.  She breaks down all the steps for us. Take a look…

I am sure looking at her layout you might be saying – did she hand stitch that layout? And the answer would be yes – well sort of – she did get some help. 🙂 If you aren’t in to hand stitching you can use a sewing machine for a “similar” look or a journaling pen.  Honestly I would have used my sewing machine but learned the kids broke it so as you can see on the bonus sample, I used a journaling pen to make some faux stitching lines. Certainly not as nice as Rachelle’s labor of love but it does work if you don’t have the time or want to do the work.

And here’s a look at the bonus sample I did with a few extra sets of paper and some extra elements…

There you have it! Kit includes materials needed to follow printed directions to create your own layout in Rachelle’s signature style (no video instruction).

Thank you for stopping in. As usual we have lots lined up. Next kit to come – Marta Lapkowska! Another beautiful layout. This one featuring Dreamy Morning papers from LemonCraft. Gabrielle Pollacco will be back first thing next week with a don’t want to miss kit featuring Autumn Anthology papers from Blue Fern Studios.

Dream Big Album By Steph Miller

Steph Miller‘s infectious smile always comes out in her work. Her latest exclusive kit, Dream Big, for the Scrapbook Diaries is no different. She uses the ever hard to find Optimist Collection from Prima mixed with a binder album from BoBunny. This chalkboard look works seamlessly with all sorts of photos.

Kits are limited and once they’re sold out… that’s it. As is… we ran very low on one of the sheets of paper Steph uses and couldn’t find it anywhere so that’s why you’ll get 6 1/2 sheets of Optimist papers plus another from KaiserCraft and American Crafts.  You’ll have more than enough goodies in your kit to recreate Steph’s album or make your own variation.  All materials just blend with one another. The pink chalk edger and white Signo pen also really make your elements pop.

Here’s some pics of this great 8″ x 9″ Album….

And here’s what you get in the kit:

You won’t need much in addition to the kit with the exception of scissors, trimmer, adhesive, foam tape and a corner rounder if you have.  The rest is real y in there.

Thanks for stopping by today. Next week we have another new designer to announce.  If you like mixed media art and 7Dots you might have seen her work before! In suspense? 🙂

Apply Watercolor Kit by Elena Olinevich

Elena Olinevich made me fall in love with her work when she displayed an artist layout showcasing her Mother in earlier ears with a DT assignment for Faber-Castell. Elena’s talent is nothing short of outstanding but she has a way of using several mediums from Faber-Castell to help aid the less talented at creating a masterpiece of their own. She does that in her latest kit for The Scrapbook Diaries, Apple.  Apple is a great example of how anyone without drawing skills can use watercolor pencils, Gelatos and more to create a magnificent mixed media layout.

As always, kits come complete with materials to make the featured layout and bonus.  We are offering this kit in complete and basic – only difference is the complete version includes the text stencil from The Crafters Workshop and a text stamp from Finnabair for Prima.

Just to prove how someone without drawing skills can do this – here’s my recreation…

Apple Remake

Not too shabby, right?  And following with out usual order of business, I needed to create a bonus layout to compliment the featured layout with products and technique.  At a loss for ideas I said to my sister, what do I do that i red/pink and I can draw?  She immediately thought of the heart…

Bonus Heart Page

Had so much fun doing both of these layouts. Thanks Elena!  It was great to watch the video and learn such awesome techniques as to how to layer color and elements.  Hope you like this one as much as I do.

Thanks for looking. Another new kit from Adrienne next week!

School Memories Clipboard by Steph Miller

Steph Miller has totally got me back in love with mini albums.  I used to make nothing but mini albums and then… I don’t know… things changes… haven’t made a mini album in probably 4 years or so.  Now… Oh… I want to make more. This was so fun and is so cute!  One day the kids will be old enough for school and I will put it to use. 🙂

Steph’s School Memories Clipboard aired on Live with Prima at the end of August.  Took me a few weeks to get just about all the materials in stock, kitted up and ready to go but it’s here now.

This project shows you how to change an ugly clipboard from the Dollar Store and turn it in to a treasure to show off school photos and memorabilia.  The details and how to’s are just awesome!  With lots of layers, you can make an amazing mini album of your own.

There’s so much product packed in to this kit that you are sure to create even more with the supplies.

Hope you like this one as much as I do. It was a lot of fun and great color combo.

And more to come…. this Friday, the long awaited School Memories Clipboard Project from Steff Miller (as previously seen on Live with Prima) will be ready. Wish I knew about it before it aired so I could have had all the materials sooner. Better late than never. This is one of the cutest projects I’ve ever seen – perfect for any school memories).

Domestic Goddess by Adrienne Ford

Did Adrienne name this one Domestic Goddess for the paper line used or for that adorable baby girl of hers? I am guessing she’s not telling. Either way, it works for me.  Adrienne Ford always delivers artistic displays of opulence. Domestic Goddess is no different. This mixed media kit is loaded with product so that you can recreate this layout (with your own twist of course)…

Domestic Goddess

For me, this was one of those layouts where I was like, oh… this is how you do that. I wasn’t so sure I could pull off the cutout photo so I deicded to use a “typical” photo.  I love how it turned out.  In fat, this is what I managed to do…

And this is a pic of the Bonus layout… a bit lighter but works the same…

My Sunshine by Lisa Griffith

We have another stunning mixed media kit from the talented Lisa Griffith. Lisa shows how some gesso can go a long way in transforming paper.  This kit has several stamps that allow you to layer your images just so. You can create two layouts in no time.  When you purchase this kit, all you pretty much need is some gesso, black ink and adhesive – the kit has the rest.

Note: there may be one or two slight differences to flowers in kit but the same yellow and white motif for sure.

33. (Hello) Mixed Media Kit from Kasia Krzymińska

Kasia Krzymińska (aka. Czekoczyna) is by far one of the most talented mixed media artists I know. It’s in her blood, fingers and bones. She has it all. Whenever she sends me her sample layouts, I just swoon. I mean full on “oh” and “ah” at all the details. I always love her work. Of course I don’t wait for her to send me photos, I stalk her blog twice a day to see her latest innovations.

Her latest kit, #33. (Hello) was featured on the 7Dots Studio Blog this month.  They did a piece on bubbles. And don’t you know it, Kasia’s example was amazing! Her use of Glossy Accents from Ranger nailed the concept.  As ALWAYS, her use of colors is remarkable. This kit is loaded with yummy shades of blues, a little green and some yellow to warm it all up. It has 4 (yes 4) mini Twinkling H2O Watercolor Pods along with 4 Mini Misters filled with Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.  The colors blend seamlessly to create this amazing look….

I know, stunning, right?  Love it!  I had so much fun getting to play and recreate Kasia’s work by following along on the online tutorial. When you purchase this kit, you get the password to access the online video to watch over and over.  And my favorite part, this is the first time Kasia talks to us.  I have always known her to be sweet and inspiring but seeing her in person with words makes this kit my favorite yet. She may be from Poland but don’t be fooled – her English is great.  There is no misinterpreting her intentions or thoughts.

As with just about all of our kits, we wanted to offer you another layout sample using the product base Kasia uses (with a few extra pieces). So here is the bonus sample layout…

Smile Bonus Layout

Maybe it’s just me but after watching the video, you just want to put the learned steps in to use. I had so much fun on this one. Hope you like it as much as I do.

And as promised, we offer the kit in a Complete form and Basic.  For this kit the difference is in the stamps used (no stencil on this one).  The complete kit comes with two stamp sets from BoBunny; the basic kit without the stamps. Here’s a pic of the basic kit…
