Finally… we have all the pieces in place to provide you with the makings to follow Frank Garcia along on his last Live With Prima show. La Boheme III is a 6″ x 6″ handmade album featuring Prima’s Nature Garden Collection from Jodie Lee. This beautiful album can be seen from start to finish here. Please note quantities are limited.
Stunning, right? Frank’s signature style comes out on this cover!
And as if this kit weren’t enough for the week, we have lots more coming… the next installment of Beauty and Grunge will be available!!!! As we previously announced, our Grunge Girls are Georgia Heald and Olga Heldwein while the “Beauties” are Stacey Young and Maiko Kosugi. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I figured I’d divulge a little more information about the kit today…
Here’s how the kit works…. We have these 4 amazing designers. each one of them has created a fabulous 12″ x 12″ layout along with a video tutorial. We have created step by step photo directions to coordinate with the videos for referral that we’ll send along with the kit. Do you like one designer more than another or prefer one style over another? Well, there’s options to make this kit give you the most bang for your buck. Each designer created a second layout using materials from one of the other designers. Yes, we switched up styles. The bonus layouts don’t’ come with direction or video but then again, they never do, right? 🙂
In addition, we are bridging you even more samples!!!! the ever talented Mona Pendleton agreed to guest design not one, not two, not three but four layouts for us using the materials from the kit!!!! These don’t come with direction but they sure pack a lot of inspiration.
So what’s better than all of this? Each designer got specific products to use for their kits but we combined the stencil, stamp and mediums so that the cost per page price is less than our usual kits. And if you’ve ever seen Stacey’s work, you know the amount of flowers that can be added to a page so that is saying a lot. 🙂
Well, like the last time, we were able to pull together some special components for this kit. First, we have an exclusive stamp set that was mainly designed by Georgia Healdwith a little added from me. Georgia created some hand drawn stitched circle stamps that are a must have an only available in this kit! Please note the stamp was mis-marked but theres no mistaking Georgia’s style on it. In fact should we give you peek….
LOVE IT!!!!! So obvious which pieces Georgia designed! Can’t wait to use it!!!
Next up, we prepared an exclusive 12″ x 12″ stencil for it but when we submitted it to The Crafters Workshop for them to cut it for us, they loved it so much that you’ll be seeing this as a stencil under their label in January. The 6″ x 6″ is going to be fun! So the one we have for you in the kit is a pre-released stencil! Who doesn’t love getting their hands on something a little early? Here’s a peek….
We also had our friends at Blue Fern Studios laser cut us an exclusive set of chipboard for this kit. I won’t who you that as we have to leave a little to the imagination don’t we? Titles include: Happy, Smile, Just a Glimpse and This Moment.
What else could be included? lots to say the very least. We’ll announce it all tomorrow! So be sure to check back in.
Exciting times as the industry is preparing for CHA next week. By now you’ve probably seen a lot of previews and some full releases. We’re already ordering despite not even being at the show just yet. So here are some updates….
1 – Any orders placed this coming week won’t be filled until the 12th. We’re going to Prima’s Art Venture in Anaheim as well as the first day of CHA. The trade off when hubby says you can go but you have a 4-day window. I’ll always chose Prima.
2 – Prima: We already ordered a boat load and plan on ordering more. You can see their releases online here. We’ll begin offering pre-orders as soon as we find some time to upload all the images and product information. Orders will be sent on first ordered basis. Anyone in love with the Color Bloom Sprays like I am? $8 a bottle is a bit pricey but that nozzle… too cute. Also heard some good things with respect to the 2-ways it sprays and their ergonomic handle. We’ll offer in sets at a reduced rate for pre-orders so if interested… stay tuned and we’ll see what we can do. Also on my HAVE to HAVE lists… Cartographer from the ever so talented Frank Garcia and Ingvild Bolme. I ordered more from these two collections than any other collections to date. Really looking forward to them. And of course we got bits and pieces from the other collections.
3 – 13 Arts. Perhaps not CHA related but we have it on order and it’ll be here soon and I for one can’t wait. Timeless Collection of paper, Matte Paints, Stencils and more. Aida even created two kits exclusively for us with videos of her process. They are awesome. We’ll be sure to post as soon as we have it all in and are ready to ship.
4 – 7Dots. Have you seen their 3 new collections just posted online? New 7Dots designer, DeeDee Catron brings us Nature Walk. Love this collection! And who doesn’t love Finn? Another great collection, Cold Country. The third collection was created by the ever so talented Anai(Anna Iwanowska); Illumination.
5. Blue Fern Studios. More pieces coming soon. Michele Singh has been BUSY. She’s been creating some of the most beautiful, unique page dangles. Love them! Not to mention some new words/phrases from yours truly.
I am sure there is plenty more to come. I’ll see if I can post anything from the show – floor pics and other products we order. Of course, if there’s anything you’d love to see us carry… drop us a note or post a comment. Always happy to try and accommodate!

We are so happy to be able to offer our customers project kits from designers around the world. These designers offer us the opportunity to learn amazing new techniques and try new products. But let’s face it, mixed media kits require a lot of product. Our kits are valued at prices that reflect the product used in that kit. After some evaluation with friends and customers, we’ve decided to change things up a bit as kits can get pricey with different mediums, stamps and/or stencils.
Complete Vs. Basic Kit Options:
As always, you will be able to purchase kits in their “Complete” form so you know you’ll have all the materials you need right at your finger tips without having to go digging or looking for materials that might take a back burner in your work area. Well, just to be clear when I say complete, I mean all materials needed to make the kit with the exception of basic tools (adhesives, scissors and/or trimmer, etc.) and inks.
We have recently started offering many of our kits in a “Basic” version. The Basic version may change from kit to kit depending on what materials and supplies are used. There’s a few reasons for this…
Saving money is saving money and can never hurt.
Some stencils or stamp sets may be used in several kits. If you have it, why buy it again?
Putting reasons 1 and 2 together – sometimes you might have something similar that could work for you, why spend more money.
We will always list products included in each version so you know what you are getting. In addition, we will provide links to the products not included in the Basic version so you can add one to your cart but not another. Options are always a good thing.
Another added cost to any kit is the mediums used. I am a firm believer that the mists, paints, gelatos, etc. used in the kit are essential. I believe these items make the designer kits what they are (most of the time). The colors and specific mediums are hand picked by the designers to make the project displayed. We’ll continue to add these in to all kits.
But we can save you some money on the “usual” mediums used… the gels, gessos, etc. Most of our customers seemed to have dabbled here or there with some mixed media projects at one time or another. The added $2.50 here and there can also make the cost of kits higher. We’re going to eliminate these from kits moving forward (kits already available prior to this email will still have them as they are all packaged up in kit form already). We will again provide a link if you need to purchase these materials in their full size.
In fact, I’ll make sure we still offer the “trial size” that we usual include in the kits at present. So you’ll be able to get a mini (.5oz) bottle of Studio Gesso from Ranger for $2.50 or a .5 oz container of gel/molding paste/super heavy gesso/etc. for $2.50 as well. We want all of our customers to feel the value in our kits that we believe we offer as well as make sure they need what they have to follow along.
Thank you for all f your support, patronage and friendship. We welcome comments as to how we can better serve your. Please feel free to drop us a comment any time.
I have to say I felt very lucky this week as I had the opportunity to take 2 classes from the ever-so-talented Anna Dabrowska, aka Finnabair. If you are not familiar with Finn, I think you might be living under a rock but that’s neither here nor there. 🙂 You do need to check out her work on her blog as it is nothing short of amazing. If you EVER get the chance to take one of her classes, DO. It is worth every penny and then some.
Finn is a fabulous teacher. She is patient, knowledgeable and helpful at guiding you in making a wonderful piece. Don’t let her fool you, her English is excellent. She is able to communicate technical information in English perfectly. I found her to be one of the best instructors I have taken a class from to date.
I’d also like to add if in the New York area and you want some great mixed media type classes, check out this meet up group, Little Bird Creations run by Michele. They always have great things going on to inspire and learn.
The 2 classes I took were the Imagine Mixed Media Canvas Class and the Industrial Boroque, Tea for Two. Loved both of these classes and learned so much. Here’s what I created with Finn’s insight….
Just watched the latest Prima video with another new line, Delight from Jodi Lee. Jodi Lee and Frank Garcia are too cute and funny. Anyway.. the new lines seems amazing and we plan on ordering it all (ok maybe not quite as I can’t afford all of it but certainly a lot). 🙂 We’ll aim to have pre-orders up by the end of this week.
On to other exciting news… too many fabulous designer kits coming soon. I just received photos from Kasia, Natalie and Lene. And let me just say – wow! then we alos have two Live with Prima kits coming out soon. One is for Kasia’s Treasure Canvas which aired in June. The other is from Frank Garcia which is scheduled to air a little later this month.
Lots of moving pieces on my end but will work to get all of these things uploaded to the site. Here’s a little peek at Kasia’s new kit (30)…
Bird with a View is the newest kit to make its way to our site. I love the blues in this one as well as how easy it all came together. Sometimes you just need a quick and easy layout. Makes up for those labor intense ones. 🙂
On to the good reason for being delayed with this posting… I have been quite busy working on getting product together to send out to some wonderful designers who have agreed to create some projects for us. I have to say I probably owe it all to Kasia. Afterall… she believed in us from the very beginning and who wouldn’t want to be listed along with her?
I am so excited to be writing this blog post right now. If you haven’t figured it out by now, this mixed media business has taken me by storm. After seeing the Live With Prima video I last posted about, I had to contact Kasia Krzymińska (aka Czekoczyna). She is absolutely amazing. Her sense of color and tips and tricks never cease to amaze me.
The even more exciting part is that after a few emails, she agreed to do some exclusive layouts for the Scrapbook Diaries. I am humbled as I am in awe of her to say the least. The first layout, Mixed Media Layout 14., is nothing short of breathtaking in my opinion. Of course you can see for yourself.
When I saw the layout I thought, no way can I do that. Let me preface this by stating I am NOT a mixed media artist or an artist by any means. I do like to scrapbook and do think I may have some talent there. I guess I better or I have no business having a scrapbooking business. But that is neither here nor there.
Back to the point… with little experience in mixed media, I managed to make this layout based off of Kasia’s video. Not to tout my own horn but I think it is pretty good and plan on hanging it in the living room.
Kasia ia able to break down the nitty gritty. It’s a great video filled with tips and tricks.
The kit comes complete with products to recreate this layout and create another bonus layout. Once you start misting, you will never want to stop.
Even more exciting, more to come from Kasia. Can’t wait to see what she does next! In the meantime, you really should check out her blog: http://czekoczyna.blogspot.com for more inspiration.
